But I can’t do double unders!

December 18th, 2009, by Jennie

Hey, don't worry about it. You've come to the right place! All of us have been where you are at one time or another, and we know how scary it can be. You're not sure if CrossFit is right for you because the workouts seem so hard. There's all kinds of things in the workouts that you've never even heard of before. (Thrusters? Double Unders?) We know how you feel, and it's OK. The Fort is a loving place for people to come and feel welcome. Stop by and watch one of our classes and you'll see what I mean.

The workout yesterday was:

7 rounds
20 double unders
10 body rows
10 ring dips

We substituted tuck jumps for double unders for those of you who haven't learned the fine art of double unders yet. DU's will only come if you want them. And it's not even just a little "want"...you need to REALLY WANT THEM. DU practice often leads to being slapped repeatedly by the rope, which can leave red welts on your forearms. I know it sounds horrible...but it's really worth it. When you can string together 4-5 double unders at once, there's no cooler feeling!

I'd like to welcome a few new members to the Fort. Thom, David, Ginny, Charlie and Sarah have all jumped into our regular classes. WELCOME! We have 7 people currently going through our last ramp-up of 2009, so you can expect to see some more smiling faces real soon!
