"We do your stuff nearly as well as you do, you can't do ours very well at all, and we do everything that we both don't do much better than you can. Not very humble, I know, but true."
-Coach Glassman
Coach Glassman's famous quote. What do you guys think of it? Are we CrossFitters a bunch of ego maniacs? Maybe. Do we think our style of working out is FAR superior to anything else on the planet? Of course we do. If we thought something else was better, we'd be doing that something else instead of CrossFit.
Yesterday we put Coach Glassman's theory to the test. We traveled up to Madison, WI for the Midwinter Meltdown Rowing Tournament. Do we row in our CrossFit workouts? Of course we do! The truth of the matter is that we don't row NEARLY as much as the college rowing teams that we were up against yesterday. I'll admit that walking into a room full of people wearing their college rowing outfits and matching singlets I felt VERY uneasy about our chances to take home any medals.
Boy was I wrong!
Every single person who competed set a new PR for their row times, and we took home a truck load of medals!
2,000m row:
Garth - 2nd place
Matty Lo - 3rd place
Jennie - 5th place
Brittany - 6th place
Men's Relay - Zach, Bender, Bill and Garth - FIRST PLACE
Co-Ed Relay - Zach, Matty Lo, Brittany, Jennie - FIRST PLACE
There were a few more competitors, but since the Mendota Rowing Club hasn't posted the official results yet, I can't report on how our other competitors placed overall.
Congratulations to everyone who competed, and thank you to everyone who came just to watch and cheer! Next stop; CrossFit Sectionals!

That's fricken awesome! I bet those college rowing teams in their gay little outfits left pretty upset that they got rolled by crossfitters. Congrats!

Nice Work Fortmates, I'm with Pete, glad I missed it cause I'm pretty sure I hate the rower more than him, but even more glad that you guys represented CFF in style.
To answer the question of whether or not crossfitters are cocky egomaniacs who think their ways are far superior I can only speak personally and say that I think the philosophy is solid, and the competition is what makes it superior to most, now I don't think that gives me much of an ego to speak of as I'm usually getting my butt kicked, but as far as the Forts overall performance is concerned I think the song Bill plays goes something like "I'm cocky but thats OK, it aint braggin moth#$%&#$ if you back it up" So perhaps the performance in WI puts a little more swagger in the overall posture around the Fort, if so you guys earned it.

Broad times and modal domains.....need I say more?...and Jennie, don't you mean CrossFire brings the heat? You must have had too many adult bevies that night to remember our call sign.
February 1, 2010, 2:18 pm
It just occurred to me.....did any of our competitors qualify for the Boston trip? Perhaps the relay teams?
February 1, 2010, 2:31 pm
Congrats to everyone! Way to represent!
February 1, 2010, 3:01 pm
Jason - Only individuals rowing in the 2000m races could qualify for a paid trip to Boston. If any of you are interested in what a qualifying time is for your age group and weight class, those can be found here: Qualifying Times

Way 2 Go everyone, seems like CFF was well represented, I think CFF singlets would be awesome for you!

Broad Times and Modal Domains...I dunno, sounds like a house of ill repute.
February 1, 2010, 10:44 pm
Congrats to all of the CFF rowers! All of you represented well and took it to them which is just fantastic. Thanks to those that were kind of enough to send me messages to let me know what was happening. Awesome times and performances.
Are CrossFitters egomaniacs? I would say YES we are. And, I would say we have a right to be. See Glassman's quote above....

Wasn't suppposed to post just that.
Great job, you guys took WI by storm. Good job showing them how to work the ERG.
I have too much time, but Jen you shoudl see how many crossfit's use your video as their explaination at what crossfit is. Time to update to show how much stronger the "Fort" has gotten since the old days.
