Hey guys, it's called THE FORT for a reason. We don't take ourselves too seriously. We laugh when something goes wrong. We sweat, joke, compete, talk and give each other a hard time. Quite simply put, we play. The Fort is our adult sanctuary where we can get together and have fun without having to stand around at a bar.
Think about how most adults "play". Most of the time we socialize with crappy food and booze. Almost EVERY social gathering, whether it's with family or friends, involves food and drink. Don't get me wrong - I like Sam Adams and hot wings just as much as the next guy. I just don't want it to be the center of my existence.
How many of you have been "that guy"? The one who isn't drinking and all your friends are giving you a hard time? How about if you're the guy trying not to eat the chips & salsa on your table? The pressure to conform is INTENSE. Nobody wants to be singled out as the "workout freak" or the "health nut". What lengths are you willing to go to....what would you sacrifice to conform? How many times have you gone out with friends, telling yourself before you leave the house that you're not drinking, only to get to the bar and order a drink?
I wish we lived in a world where it was socially acceptable to pick the croutons out of your salad, and to tell people you're not going to drink. I wish it was normal to have a burning desire to do good things for your body.
Our playtime yesterday started with power snatches 5-5-5-3-3-3. From there, we went through this lovely little metcon:
AMRAP in 12:00 of
9 box jumps (24/20")
7 ring dips
5 sumo dead lift high pull (50/35kg)
Everyone did a great job! Bill told us that NOBODY was allowed to get less than 8 rounds. The Show got over 13 rounds!

Speaking of "health nuts." I leave tomorrow for a week on the family farm in Georgia where we have about 4 pecan trees. That's right...good ole Georgia pecans....or pee-cans as we call them.
I'm going to collect as much as I can and bring back anything my extended family doesn't want to keep, I have them shelled before I bring them home.
Jennie has graciously agreed to allow me to offer them to the Fort family.
Looking online, the cheapest I have found for shelled pecans is $7.50. I'll be happy to bring some back to anyone who is interested for $5.00 lb. shelled.
Again, there is no guarantee regarding how many I can bring back but can provide them on a per pound basis first come first serve, delivered to the Fort the week after Thanksgiving. Let me know if you're interested.....heath.goodson@gmail.com
