No exercise???????? I don't think I could do that. Exercise is more of an emotional/mental therapy for me. What comes physically, is just a bonus.

5 weeks of 500 calories a day and no exercise...Oh, husband of mine, this sounds DREADFUL!

Hey, neither one of you answered the question. Would you eagerly sign-up for such a weight loss protocol???
@Whitney - The reason for the exercise restriction is because it would be downright dangerous to exercise when restricting calories so severely.
@Jennie - I agree 100%. In part II we will explore the missing piece to this illogical puzzle.

I don't get the math. 8 week program is more than 30 days?
Eagerly? No.
Could I? Yes
Want to? No.

Sorry Steve, I should have been more clear. Phase I is the weight loss phase and is up to 5 weeks in length which puts us at 35 days and where the 30 pounds in 30 days came from. Phase II is the maintenance phase which is suppose to set you up for long term compliance and success.

The Steak Day part sounds AWESOME, so long as there isn't a limit as to how big the steak gets to be...

Sounds like the "HCG Diet."

Brian - If I could have it my way, every day would be Steak Day.
Tom - Glad you brought that up. Does injecting yourself weekly with a female hormone change anyone's view of eating like this?

Nope. End of story.

Definitely would never sign up for this. What I think draws people to something like this is the no exercise because exercise is hard work. But torturing yourself with diet restrictions is sooooooo easy.

Why on Earth anyone would voluntarily eat 500 calories a day (starve themselves) is beyond me. No exercise for 5 weeks either? Yeah that sounds like fun. They might as well call this the comatose diet because you aren't going to be eating anything at all and you aren't going to be moving either. You could not pay me enough money to do something like this.
Will people lose weight doing this? Geez I should hope so considering the huge calorie restriction and the complete lack of exercise.
Then for weeks 6-8 you can TRIPLE your calories to a whopping 1500? LOL sounds like a great time.
I have done quite a few things with nutrition and recovery in order to find what works best for me - but I'd take a much smarter/safer route if I wanted to drop weight. Decrease the calories a bit and do more metcon work. It's really not that difficult...
