What are you afraid of?

August 12th, 2012, by

FEAR. All of us are afraid of something. As children we were afraid of the dark. Afraid of strangers. Afraid of that creepy clown doll in Poltergeist. Everyone was afraid of something. And when we were children that was ok. Our parents held us tight, turned on the night light and promised to keep us safe.

ADULTS. Now that we're all grown up, do you still feel afraid? Is there something that sends ice through your veins and shivers down your spine every time you think about it? Everybody has at least ONE THING they're afraid of, and I'm here to tell you that it's alright. Even though you have credit cards, mortgage payments and a job that requires you to wear closed toe shoes, it's ok to be afraid.

DANGER. In the gym we ask a lot of you. We ask you to be strong. We push you to work hard. And every once in a while we ask you to do something that terrifies you. Jump on a box. Lift something heavy. Hang from a rope. There are a lot of things we do that might scare you. Granted, NOTHING is as scary as that damn clown...but it's still scary. (who buys a toy THAT CREEPY anyways!? BAD PARENTS, that's who!)

SAFE. As a CrossFit community, we're here to support each other. We're not just here to high five when you do something amazing, we're also here to help you when you're feeling afraid. If you need it, we'll turn on the night light for you. We'll hold your hand and tell you not to worry. We understand that life is scary and hard and that every once in a while you need someone to help you through.

What's YOUR Fort Boogey Man?
