Who you are

YOU. There are certain moments in our lives that define who we are as people. Our collective beings are made up of good moments, bad moments, and everything in between. You are who you are because of all the things you have done, and all the things you have left undone.

TOUGH. Let's talk about the hard times. The frustrating times. You are the person you become when shit gets hard. When you fail a rep. When you miss a PR time by 6 seconds. You are defined by the moments in your life that test you as a human being, not just the times when everything is going your way. Sure, anyone can be happy and upbeat when life is all sunshine, roses and PR's....but what happens on your bad days? Who do you become then?

HARD. When things don't go as planed do you curse? Yell? Sulk? Throw your jump rope down in disgust? Refuse high-fives from other CrossForters? What happens when things go wrong in your world? The way I see it, there are a few options when you're mad: laugh, cry, quit, conquer. That might be over simplifying it, but essentially those are the options.

LAUGH. You can choose to take your bad day and laugh at it. Smile and know that you'll do better the next time around. Then there is the option to CRY. You can feel sorry for yourself and bust out the black cupcakes and black balloons for your pity party. Or there's always door #3 where you QUIT. Run away with your tail between your legs because life is hard and so is CrossFit. HARUMPH.

CONQUER. This is the path of the truly extraordinary. Take all that frustration, all that disappointment and channel it into a drive. Let these feelings fuel your inner conquerer and vow to become better. Hold your chin high, and let the world know that deep inside you are not a sulker, a quitter or a cryer....you are a conquerer! Stare into the face of adversity, give it the middle finger, and be a powerful and positive force in the universe! (aka. the Fort)

Think about it. Make sure you're staying true to who you REALLY are when shit gets hard.

Have missed everyone at Crossfit Fire! Appears I've been reduced to just another CF Fire website lurker for the time being....lol

  • Chris, lurking is fun. I don't get to the site as often as I'd like, but I do enjoy the motivational Monday posts. And I'm sure most of the current members that I don't know wonder why some random dude named Brian is making really corny jokes in the comments section.
